Postpartum discussion

Because childbirth modifies the mother’s self, femininity, and motherhood in such a significant way, we cannot stress enough the importance of postpartum visits.

Childbirth is one of the most significant experiences in human life. It affects the whole family and is an event that one will certainly remember for the rest of one’s life. In maternity hospitals, postpartum events are usually reviewed fairly quickly with the new mother. At that time, the mind of the newfamily is often still in turmoil, and for the mother, hormonal fluctuations do little to help.

Often, however, childbirth comes to mind again after a while. Because childbirth modifies the mother’s self, femininity, and motherhood in such a significant way, we cannot stress enough the importance of postpartum visits. It is important that fresh parents are allowed to go through their experiences in peace.

If the experience is not reviewed with a professional, many questions are often left unanswered. Even if the birth went well on the surface, there may still be something puzzling the parents.

As midwives, we often encounter those who have given birth in the past and only now, when they are pregnant again, they become aware of the variegated emotions that childbirth has left in their memories. Sometimes those memories evoke different fears about future childbirth. Many fears of childbirth could certainly be alleviated by giving the mother the experience of starting from a “clean slate.”

That is why we want to offer families who have given birth the opportunity to have a conversation with a midwife after giving birth. Childbirth can also evoke a wide range of feelings in the spouse and we also want to give answers to their questions.

You can come to the reception with your baby, as a whole family, with your spouse or alone. We can go through the whole birth by discussing and our midwives can answer any questions that rpuzzle you. The midwives who hold the postpartum conversations have all been worked in the maternity ward themselves.

We have also noticed that many mothers feel left out of counseling after delivery when the focus shifts strongly to newborns counseling. We want to keep that focus in the mother, and with the whole family in mind. With a follow-up visit, we can also go through recovery from childbirth and the start of breastfeeding. Our receptions are flexibly adapted to the needs of each.
