Fetal Screening and Medical Ultrasound
The doctors screening includes blood sampling, neck edema, and systematic ultrasound examination of the fetal organs.
A blood test is taken from the pregnant woman at 9–11 weeks of pregnancy. The general ultrasound is scheduled at 11–13 weeks of pregnancy and the NT scan is carried out at the same
time.
Structural Ultrasound is performed at 18–21 weeks of pregnancy. It is a systematic examination of fetal organs. (THL 2009: Prenatal screening, a guide for expectant parents)
